KAIROS organizes its 3rd Biannual Meeting

From February 26 to 28, 2025, AI METHODS, as the KAIROS project coordinator, participated in the 3rd biannual consortium meeting of the project in Helsinki, hosted by the Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI). This hybrid event focused on reviewing the progress of the project after reaching its halfway point. Discussions centered around model validation, integration and operational implementation.

AI METHODS played a central role in the meeting, from the first sidebar session on convection validation, alongside CRIDA/ENAIRE and MetSafe, to ensure that AI-driven forecasting models align with aviation needs. The meeting covered updates and technical discussions on convection, turbulence, and low visibility models, and the cooperative development of the Operational Validation Plan, essential to bridge research with real-world applications.

The event concluded with a visit to Helsinki Airport, providing valuable insights into the practical challenges of meteorological solutions in aviation.

With clear objectives set for the next phase, AI METHODS continues to drive innovation and collaboration within the KAIROS project. A special thanks to FMI for hosting this productive event and to the SESAR JU for the support.
